World Aids Day
In the present day we observe world aids day, to honor those who have died of AIDS and those who live with HIV or AIDS and to raise consciousness of these conditions. The day is devoted to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
AIDS is a condition resulting from damages done to the human immune system by HIV. It affects tens of millions of people around the world. The theme of World AIDS Day 2011 is “Getting to Zero”: zero new infections, zero discrimination and zero AIDS-related deaths”.
“Heading into the fourth decade of AIDS, we are lastly in a place to end the epidemic. The progress we have made so far is lucid evidence that we can realize our vision [of getting to zero].
